"Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honor is humility."-Proverbs 18:12
The definition of haughty means to be arrogantly superior and disdainful. Would you consider yourself haughty? Do you feel that you are more superior than your husband? Do you feel that you know better? Do you feel that you could do certain things better? You must think that if you're speaking to him in a way that's disrespectful. You must feel that way if you're arguing back and forth and feel that you're not wrong in every situation. These thoughts fester in the heart and can lead to disaster if you're not careful.
Here are some examples of feeling/being haughty:
Being self-reliant
Being self-righteous
Refusing to submit
Talking about yourself like you're flawless
These are just a few examples of being haughty. Unfortunately, we all have been here at one point and time. It's a dangerous path to be on, and if you're not careful, you will end up there more than once, and not realize that you're there until it's too late.
The definition of humility means to be humble. Being humble means that you don't show up and show out thinking that you're better than the next person. You're low key about things. You are slow to speak about a lot of things. You're not exactly quiet completely, but being low key earns you a respect that most people will recognize right away. They will come to understand your wisdom without you shoving it in their face or forcing it down their throats.
Here are some examples of being humble:
Not looking down on others.
Not acting self-righteous
Not drawing attention to yourself
Obeying the laws, statues and commands of the Most High
When you think of being humble..think of that in mind and in spirit. The Most High can see your efforts in trying to remain humble. When you're thinking more in what the Bible says on the subject and actually trying to mimick what it says, that goes a long way in the eyes of the Most High Yah.
For Day 2...mediate on what Proverbs 18:12 says. Also look for examples in your own life on how you can be more humble verses being haughty. Remember this is a marathon not a sprint. It's going to take time to change your thought process. It can be done, just take your time.
Let's check out Day 3
